Happy Halloween!

Here's my version of dressing up for Halloween.

Well these are interesting

While on the lookout for black ankle boots to wear with my fall pants, I ran across these, and no, I wasn't looking for shoes on a fetish site, it was the very mainstream Endless.com! I'm really curious as to how you walk in these things, or if only a trained ballerina could pull them off. They also come in up to size 15, so I'm guessing they aren't just for women (no offense to the larger footed ladies out there).

I also spotted the little-bit extreme, but definitely more wearable pair by Report Signature pictured below. They come with a strap that apparently is meant to attach to your belt. I can't tell if you are supposed to wear these with pants or not. Something tells me that copy-cats of this boot are on the horizon.

Your Slip Is Showing

I love pretty clothes, but it's all the more better when a great idea is mixed in with the design. Your Slip Is Showing (yourslipisshowing.com) makes gorgeous embellished slips that are meant to peek out of under your dress or skirt. Your Slip Is Showing uses lace, feathers, jewels, ruffles and other rich-looking details to turn this utilitarian undergarment into something meant to be seen. These slips would also be great with those tunic tops that are too long to wear with jeans, but too short to wear on their own as a dress. I like how they stretch your wardrobe by giving basics new life. I'm a fan!

Jackets and sequins

It's always a challenge to get that 'I-just-tossed-this-together-but-I-still-look-fabulous-without-trying-too-hard' look. One way I like to achieve this on casual days is to pair a blazer with jeans. Adding a sparkly top underneath adds a little fun to mix keeps the whole look from looking too square. I'm not a big fan of boring basics, unless they are paired with something outrageously detailed. So I tried to find some jackets and tops, each with just a little bit of embellishment, that together would be wearable for daytime but still stand out in a crowd. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to Photoshop out the bodies out of these items, so use your imagination when you put them together in your head.

Zippy

Zipper-accented pieces have been out for awhile, but they haven't seemed to reach the trend level of say, ruffles or gladiator sandals. Zipper trend or not, here are a few pieces that I really like the designs of that don't bring back bad 80's flashbacks.

Guess the cardigan

This in-between weather always has me invariably throwing on a cardigan of some sort, because I'm one of those people who gets cold in 75 degree weather, but don't want to look ridiculous breaking out my wool turtlenecks when it's still 62 outside. So I'm always on the lookout for cardigans that have a little embellishment or interesting textures. Let's see if you can guess which one is from where. I've got one each of an Elizabeth and James, Kohl's, Nanette Lepore, DKNY and Chadwicks. Yes, I said Chadwicks, which, if you like the clothes on this blog, you probably don't check that site out very often. Cute finds can come from anywhere! Answers after the pictures.

Comfy, chic and cheap

We kind of bypassed summer entirely this year and pretty had fall the past four months, with winter not far behind. Oh well, at least I can break out my favorite footwear - boots.
One great thing about boots is that you can usually find pairs that are reasonably comfortable and still super fashionable. As I was browsing around, I happily noticed that some well known comfort brands also were carrying stylish choices at reasonable prices, as opposed to the stereotypical orthopedic offerings. Comfy+chic+cheap = one very happy shopper.
